ESTA is an international association for violin, viola, cello and double bass players and teachers who are concerned with improving the quality of music education in general and string playing in particular. The British Branch has been supporting string players since 1973 and is delighted to be working with Musicteachers.co.uk to identify teachers with a passion for learning.

What's in it for teachers?

Membership of ESTA shows a commitment to being a learning teacher/performer - reflecting on old ideas, discovering new ones and developing a deepening understanding of string teaching and playing. A quarterly professional development magazine, arco, is sent to all members and the members' area of the website allows members to access resources such as the forum, articles and research and the repertoire database 24/7. Additionally membership of ESTA provides crucial liability insurances and legal cover. Find out more.

Membership of ESTA gives confidence that a teacher appreciates the need to keep in touch and helps avoid the isolation than can be a common experience of many instrumental teachers. The network of ESTA members provides support through house meetings and other events while conference and the annual professional development summer school allow for a more in depth discovery and reflection.

What's in it for parents and students?

Parents can rest assured that their child's teacher has signed up to be a learning teacher while the students of ESTA members benefit from the magazine and website of JESTA (Junior ESTA). The magazine is issued twice a year and ESTA members can request one copy for each of their students. JESTA Play-days, courses, workshops and masterclasses are offered to the students of ESTA members at a reduced rate and students are eligible for bursaries.
