I’ve received an email from MusicTutors - what does it mean?

We will send notification emails to you when certain things happen on the site. This is to make sure you know what’s going on and you’re kept up to date with your students. Here are some examples of emails you will receive and how you can respond:

1 - A new student has been connected to you!

  • This is most likely the first email notification you’ll receive from us. It means that one of your students has found you on the site and sent an initial message to you, confirming that they would like to begin online lessons.
  • Your next step here would be to log in and send your student a message to arrange some lessons.
  • Once you’ve arranged your lessons with the student, you can then go ahead and schedule lessons on the site.
  • If you’re unsure about any of these steps, speak to your Music Service/Hub.

Important note: Before you start arranging lessons with your student, please make sure you have confirmation from your management team that lessons are paid for and you have the green light to schedule lessons. If you're not sure about this, contact your music service/hub.

2 - You have received 1 new message

  • You will receive this email anytime one of your students sends you a message.
  • You will be able to see a preview of the message, but you need to log in to see the full message and respond.
  • Simply click the green ‘Login to your profile’ button to log in. This will take you straight to your inbox after you’ve logged in. There, you will be able to see the full message and respond to your student.
  • Please note: you cannot respond to a student by replying to the notification email. Replying to the email will send a message to our MusicTutors office. We will forward this message to your Music Service/Hub.

3 - The student has confirmed the lesson

  • You will receive this email when your student has confirmed the lesson(s) you scheduled.
  • Note: students need to confirm lessons 24 hours (2 hours Spring 2021) before the lesson, otherwise it will be automatically cancelled.

  • It will include details of the lesson(s) confirmed, and a green ‘View lessons’ button. This will take you straight to your calendar to view your lessons.
  • Note: lessons shown as blue in your calendar are confirmed lessons; orange lessons are not yet confirmed by the student.

3 - We’ve cancelled your lesson with [student]

  • You will receive this email if your student hasn’t confirmed their lesson 24 hours in advance.
  • At this point, we recommend getting in touch with your student to ask why they didn’t confirm.
    1. If it was a mistake, you can re-book the lesson for the same time, and the student will have until the start of the lesson to confirm.
    2. If the student no longer wants a lesson at this time, you can arrange a new time and schedule the lesson accordingly.
  • Click the green ‘Login and manage your bookings’ button to go straight to your calendar once you’ve logged in. From here you can book a lesson, or navigate to your inbox to send a message to the student.
