Aelred is an experienced guitarist with a postgraduate music degree from Leeds University and an undergraduate degree in Jazz, Popular and Contemporary music from Newcastle. He has over ten years experience teaching students electric and acoustic guitar across a variety of ages and abilities. Aelred is passionate about developing the individual’s confidence and guiding them to reach their personal goals by creating an engaging and supportive environment during lessons.

Teaching in guitar
Aelred teaches guitar for beginners, intermediates and those approaching an advanced level at all ages.

He provides tuition which covers:
- Acoustic and electric guitar styles
- Songwriting
- Chord reading and harmony
- Scales and arpeggios
- Improvisation
- Note and rhythm exercises

Genre
Aelred teaches Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Classical, Funk and Pop styles.

First lesson
Aelred will provide a short consultation with each new student to understand their priorities and short and long-term musical goals, in order to tailor the lessons to the student's abilities and aspirations. This helps to ensure that teaching methods, repertoire and resources are pitched at an appropriate level.

Beginners
Aelred has experience working with absolute beginners of the guitar, through workshops and 1:1 tuition. He will ensure that each student will go away from their first lesson having actively performed something ‘musical’ on the guitar.

For beginner students, it is highly recommended that you have an instrument to practice on at home.
