Teaching in Violin
Alice teaches violin from beginners to advanced students ages 7 and up. Violin lessons with Alice include:
- Correct technique including finger positioning and bow hold.
- Working with sheet music and understanding notation.
- Performing melodies and pieces, both recommended by Alesia and pieces of the students choice.
- Understanding how to practice effectively, working from clear notes provided by Alice.
- Understanding music theory
Alice will provide a very clear structure to each lesson and prides herself on having a full lesson plan, everytime she takes a lesson. Each lesson will begin by examining the goals set at the end of the previous lesson to ensure progress is made in each lesson and also in between lessons. She is also able to accompany the student on a piano should an instrument be available.
Alice teaches (almost) all genres, but specializes in classical and pop music.
At the first lesson Alice will greet the student and make sure of a warm welcome and introduction. During the initial conversation, Alice will explain some brief history of the violin and listen to the aspirations of the student, before together working out a plan of how to achieve these goals.
Beginner students need to bring only an instrument, a notebook and an open mind! If an instrument has not been acquired in time for the first lesson, Alice will be able to advise on the correct size of the instrument and also provide a spare instrument that can be used in the first lesson.
