First lesson
Anna Livia will talk to you about your aims for the lesson and previous experience if relevant. The lesson will be structured with a focus on variety and having you play or engage in an activity. In all lessons, she strives to strike a good balance between work on technique and actual music making. She uses imagery and metaphors and rhymes to make explanations easy to follow and remember.

For beginners, Anna Livia mostly adopts the approach of the Suzuki Method, with the exception that she encourages pupils to learn to read music from an early stage too. She thinks it is important to carefully check posture and hold of the instrument and bow, but to allow beginners the chance to enjoy the music too. Sometimes, this involves a combining singing with playing until you are ready to play throughout the lesson.
