Barny studied drum kit at the Royal Northern College of Music and is the drummer in the dream-pop band Diving Station, creating original music and performing regularly all over the UK. The band has been played on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music. Barny has a passion for music and drumming - this passion comes across in his playing and his teaching, resulting in fun-filled, inspiring lessons.

Genres
Barny is comfortable teaching a wide variety genres and encourages and equips students to form their own musical tastes and let that inform their playing.

First lesson
Before the lesson, Barny will make sure that he understands the needs of the student and encourages the parents of younger students to remain in the first lesson. The lesson can either take place in Barny’s home or at the home of the student depending on preference of the student/parent. The first lesson with involve a brief chat to gauge the student’s knowledge and interest of the subject, then the lesson will be catered to the needs of the student. He has worked with many different personalities as a teacher and aims to make the student feel as comfortable as possible, encouraging them to speak freely about their own opinions when it comes to music and drumming.


Beginners
Barny welcomes beginners into the wonders of music and the first lesson especially is a warm, positive and fun environment.
