About Charlotte
Charlotte is a mezzo-soprano and pianist based in Birmingham. She has a first-class honours degree in Music and Chinese Studies from the University of Sheffield and is a soprano member of Choros Amici choir. She has taught piano and singing lessons to students of all ages and abilities for several years.
Charlotte is a passionate musician who believes in helping students to enjoy making music, to grow in confidence as performers and to develop in all aspects of their musicianship - whether that is in playing, composing, ABRSM grades, music theory or performance. Charlotte believes that when a student is passionate about playing their instrument, not only will they make more progress as a musician, but the skills and confidence that they gain can also make a real positive difference in many other aspects of their lives.
Teaching in piano
Charlotte teaches piano lessons for beginner-advanced level students of all ages. Charlotte aims to encourage musicality, improve piano technique and instil confidence in her students so that they can enjoy playing piano to the best of their ability. Piano lessons may include:
- piano technique
- learning new pieces
- sight-reading
- combined piano and singing (if you would like to practise this)
Teaching in vocals
Charlotte teaches vocal lessons for beginner-immediate level students. She aims to help you to feel confident in your voice and will focus on strengthening and developing your voice so that you can love singing as a soloist, in your choir, your band or even in your school play! Your singing lessons will be tailored to suit your needs. They may include:
- vocal warm-ups and training
- performance practice
- breathing technique
- aural test training
Genre
Charlotte teaches most genres and specialises in Classical, Romantic, Pop and Music Theatre.
First lesson
In your first lesson, Charlotte will work with you to find out what kind of music you would like to play/sing and what skills you would like to develop. She will aim to make the lessons fun, accessible and also suitable to your needs. Charlotte believes it is important for students to feel motivated and passionate about their instrument and will aim to tailor lessons so that you can enjoy your instrument.
