About Elli T
Elli is an experienced and friendly teacher who enjoys sharing her passion for music. She welcomes students of all ages and levels, from 4 years old to adults and from complete beginners to diploma level. She is committed to helping her students achieve their goals, whether this is to pass Grade exams or to learn pieces for their enjoyment and at their own pace. Student successes include Distinctions at ABRSM/Trinity Music exams, 1st prizes at Music Festivals and admission to Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Elli holds a Master's degree in Piano Performance and the Piano Teacher's Licentiate from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She also has a Bachelor's degree in Musicology and Music Pedagogy and degrees in Advanced Music Theory. She has played the piano from a very young age and she has performed professionally as a solo pianist or as part of ensembles and orchestras in the UK, USA and many European countries.
Teaching in Piano
Elli has been brought up with the Russian school of piano playing and she gives a great importance in the development of a healthy, natural piano technique and the production of beautiful sound.
Believing strongly in a round musical education, she includes in her lessons music theory, aural training, sight reading and music appreciation.
Genre
She specialises in classical music but she is happy to teach pieces in a variety of styles.
First Lesson
In your first lesson, you should expect to start with a short chat about your previous musical experience and your musical interests and goals. For complete beginners, the first lesson would include exploring the keyboard, introducing some basics about posture and hand position, improvising on black keys and learning some simple melodies. For students with previous experience, the lesson could start with playing a piece already learnt, if the student wishes to, or simply choosing new repertoire.
