About Evan C.
Evan is a professional percussionist, composer and teacher. He has been studying music for 20 years, the last 10 of those being spent as a full time touring session musician and educator. Evan works predominantly on the folk scene but grew up learning everything from jazz, classical percussion and samba, to progressive metal, folk and electronica.
He currently records, performs and tours with Radio 2 Folk Award winner Sam Kelly and Russian duo IAMTHEMORNING all over the world. He has also performed as a part of both the Seth Lakeman and Kate Rubsy touring bands and can occasionally be seen performing onstage in the West End production of Come From Away.
Evan specialises in the Drum Kit and the Bodhran (Celtic frame drum) for all styles.
From a very young age, Evan was lucky enough to have studied and worked with some of the most inspiring professional musicians and educators in the industry, being exposed to music and cultures from all over the world.
'I want my students to feel a love and connection to their instrument and to see the possibilities they have to explore the world through music. Not just with the intention of following it as a career, but also to just enjoy it. I love those lightbulb moments when something starts to click for a student, or when they show me the passion and enthusiasm they have, which usually teaches me something too.'
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player looking for a fresh perspective, Evan fits his lessons around your interests and passions with the aim of making these sessions as fun and as informative as possible. His youngest student is 7 and his oldest is 65 so all are welcome!
