Teaching in Piano
George primarily teaches piano and keyboard lessons, but also offers music theory and composition help. He currently works with students of all ages, from young children right through to retired adults looking to try something new.
Each lesson is tailored specifically to the student. George works alongside the pupil to help them achieve their goals, whether that be working through the grading system with a more structured plan, or just to enjoy the process of learning to play an instrument for the first time. Focus will be put on developing the core skills that will enable a student to start playing from the word go. Once these first steps have been completed, George works with the pupil to choose how they want to continue learning.
George has the ability and knowledge to teach all genres of music in his lessons. Outside of teaching George is a prolific Jazz and Pop pianist which gives him a firm grounding in most styles. He also enjoys performing and teaching music of African and Latin American origin.
Your first lesson with George will begin with a friendly chat about what you are looking to achieve in the coming weeks and whether or not you have any longer term goals you are looking to work towards. From there George is able to develop a plan that best suits your needs and will help you to progress. Don’t worry, lessons always start with a warm up to get the fingers moving and George will always work within a students means, helping you to improve without putting unneeded pressure on your shoulders!
If George is travelling to you, you’ll need a Piano/Keyboard, but other than that, you’re good to go! It’s always great if you have anything you can play already, so George can quickly gauge where to start. The main thing to remember is you’re there to have a good time and enjoy playing! Don’t let yourself get stressed out, George is there to help you along in your musical journey!
