About Georgina B

Georgina has taught Piano, Composition and Music Theory both privately and in schools for several years, since completing a Masters of Music with Distinction! She is a passionate and enthusiastic musician and teaches beginners to advanced levels.

Georgina has been a pianist and violinist since childhood, and is also a choral singer. She also works as a composer.

Teaching in Piano
Georgina teaches piano from beginners to advanced students, from age 7 and above.

Georgina works with students on pieces they can both enjoy and excel at, developing a solid technique to support this. Her goal is always to expand their musical knowledge and enjoyment, helping students become better all-round musicians! So lessons include technique, theory, harmony and musicality where helpful.

Teaching in Music Theory
Georgina teaches music theory at all levels. She is knowledgeable about all aspects of graded theory, and has taught several students for ABRSM grade 5 exams. Lessons would include practical music writing and exercises to develop knowledge and understanding.


Teaching in Composition
Georgina teaches composition from beginners to advanced levels. As a composer herself with a Master’s of Music in Composition, she is knowledgeable and passionate. Alongside working on the student’s own compositions, lessons might include some harmony, counterpoint, theory, and listening to exciting new music while looking at scores to understand how it was created.

Genre - Piano
Georgina teaches many genres of piano, from traditionally-learnt classical, to jazz, to hip hop written down by ear with the student! She mostly teaches classical, but if the student has a particular style they'd like to try, Georgina would like to teach them!

Genre - Composition
Georgina teaches composition in a range of styles. She often writes in a range of styles herself, with particular interest in contemporary music. She is also always eager to explore new methods of composition and new styles, just as she is enthusiastic to teach basic harmony or counterpoint.
