About Jaleesa M G

Jaleesa moved from Amsterdam to London in 2012 to study music and dived head-first into the city’s music scene. Within the first eighteen months, she joined a drumline and performed as part of the opening ceremony of UEFA championship’s final. Since then she has completed her Masters at the University of West London and her Bachelor of Music (Hons) with the London Centre of Contemporary Music. Jaleesa has grown into a sought after musician. She played drums on George Ezra’s hit single ‘shotgun’ and sessions for various artists such as Brian Eno, Max Milner (The Voice semi-finalist) and Petite Noir. As a teacher she strives to deliver lessons that are tailored to the student’s learning aims.

Teaching in Drums
Jaleesa teaches drums for students of all levels starting at the age of 5 and teaches all the Rock school grade books. Students who don’t want to do grades can focus on songs they enjoy playing, different beats and rudiments. You will also learn how to read music.

Teaching in Logic Pro and Garage Band
Jaleesa teaches students from the age of 8. She teaches both beginners and intermediate. You will learn things such as making your own beats, syncing music to video, using plugins, recording techniques, song structures, using loops and getting around the DAW quickly.

A combination of the two subjects is possible.

Genres
Drums: While she considers herself to be a hip-hop drummer, she is skilled in playing many different styles including pop, soul, jazz, funk and rock which she is able to teach.

Music Production: Any genre that you would like to explore.

First lesson
We’ll talk about you goals and learning aims. If you don’t have any specific goal, we will find something you are interested in. After this we’ll go through some of the basic techniques and assess what needs work and which areas we need to focus on the most for you to reach your goals. This applies to both drum and production students.

Beginners
Drums: Acoustic or electric drum kit, speakers and auxiliary cable and a pair of sticks.

Production: A laptop/computer with Logic Pro or Garageband on it. You will also need speakers and an interface.
