About Jessica H
Jessica is an experienced and dedicated voice teacher. Having gained a first-class honours degree from one of the UK’s leading conservatoires, she has experienced a wealth of world-class singing tuition which has suitably equipped her for a career as both teacher and performer. During her training she studied courses in Physicality in Performance, Vocal Health and Vocal Pedagogy. Jessica has experience working with students at all levels and ages, and she offers a friendly and encouraging working environment, providing students with a safe space to learn. Lessons will have a great balance of work as well as plenty of fun!
Teaching in Vocals
Jessica teaches vocals from beginners to advanced students of all ages.
Vocal lessons with Jessica include:
- Basic Singing techniques – breathing, support, diction etc
- Musical expression and performance
- Music reading and sight-singing
- General musicianship
- If desired, preparation for graded examinations (ABRSM, LAMDA, TRINITY)
- If desired preparation for further study (Drama School/Conservatoire)
Jessica is familiar with the application process for Conservatoires and Drama Schools, as well as graded LAMDA and ABRSM examinations; meaning she am well equipped to help those students looking to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Genre
Jessica enjoys teaching a wide variety of genres but specialises in Classical and Music Theatre. She passionately believes that at the heart of any singer’s success should be a robust and healthy vocal technique.
First lesson
Before the first lesson, Jessica will make sure she understands the student’s needs and what they wish to achieve from their lessons, and she will provide a rough outline of how the lesson will proceed. The lesson will begin with a brief chat and will then run at a pace that works for the student. Jessica always takes the student’s own wishes and needs into account as it is very important that her students feel comfortable and at ease in order for progress to be made! Jessica is a skilled tutor and prides herself on her ability work to each students individual learning style. Jessica’s approach to teaching draws upon her own classical training. She aims to promote a nurturing and supportive environment where pupils of any age can flourish and find their own voice.
