About John L.
John is a singer, songwriter, and all-around ray of sunshine. Brought up in a musical family John has been singing since before he can remember.
Much of his childhood was spent practicing violin, rehearsing for choir, and learning the lyrics to his new favorite song. In 2008 he began to study voice and take voice lessons privately with one of England’s best tutors.
In 2009 he studied Popular Music and Recording at Salford University, where he specialised in Composition and Performance. Since graduating in 2012 John has been teaching up a storm and releasing original music with some of Manchester's finest producers.
John has an infectious passion for singing and always strives to make his students feel comfortable so they can try new things, find their voice, and have a great time while they’re at it. If you’re looking to develop your voice way beyond its current limits and majorly boost your confidence then book a lesson with John today and begin your vocal adventure.
John covers contemporary music including pop, rock, soul and R 'n' B and also musical theatre.
John believes that every student is different and he wants to figure out exactly what their goals are straight away. Then he can go about creating a tailor made lesson plan for them to achieve these goals.
He also believes in building trust between student and teacher and takes the time to put the student at ease so they can achieve their full potential. Expect much laughter during a lesson with him.
So if it's practicing for a school solo, preparing for your karaoke debut or practicing for examinations John will use his extensive knowledge of vocal technique and ear training to unlock your voice and enhance your love for music.
Usually, in the first lesson, John will talk with you about your voice, your goals and do some preliminary exercises to assess your voice. Then John will explain some basic techniques and ask to hear you sing for the first time. Make sure you have a list of some of your favorite songs because John only wants you singing the songs you love (even if you think you can’t sing them).
John understands how nerve-racking singing for the first time can be so if at any point it gets too much just let him know and he will promptly cheer you up and reassure you...and then give you the techniques you need to succeed.
