About Josephine

WEEKDAY DAYTIME AVAILABILITY ONLY. Josie has toured the UK both as a backing vocalist and a gospel singer in a choir. She is a stage coach performing arts practitioner in drama, singing and dance and also is heavily involved in the music industry; gigging on a regular basis in bands, duo’s, choirs and as a soloist. Then on top of this she teaches privately. Overall, Josie is a versatile performer, singer- songwriter, vocal arranger and teacher! Josie has a transparent and relatable approach. Time management, preparation and forward planning are a large part of what Josie does. It’s imperative to her that she treats every student as an individual and assesses their level appropriately to be realistic with targets for progression. Josie's students receive lessons tailored to their own specific needs, she values diversity, which she believes opens doors to a plethora of musical interpretations.

Teaching in Singing
Josie offers singing lessons students of any ability - beginner to advanced, aged 7 and up. Josie structures her lessons around the following areas:
- Vocal health
- Vocal technique
- Vocal warm ups
- Breath support
- Vocal placement.

She believes in focusing on these imperative foundations initially to kick start any individuals career in singing. Vocal success has strength and longevity when these elements are mastered first. She is even happy to discuss industry advice from her experience in: publicity, networking, marketing, singing songwriting, recording and more.

Josie prides herself in having an eclectic taste in music. She is able to appreciate all styles and has delved into many herself - from Musical Theatre to Pop, Soul, RnB, Country, Soft Rock and Jazz! She is more than happy to tailor her lessons to your preferred style.

First lesson
First and foremost it's imperative for Josie’s students to feel comfortable and relaxed in her presence, so she never expects them to sing for their first lesson, she wants to get to know you first. Josie starts by asking a few questions such as: Who inspires you? What style of music do you like? What are your ambitions? What experience do you have? and then she allows you to set some goals. Josie also demonstrates the structure of her lessons so her pupils have an idea of what the following lesson will entail.
