In addition to voice, Juliet has been a pianist since age 3, and a violist since age 10, with over 10 years working as a professional violist in her native Michigan, USA.
With her work as a singer, she brings a unique understanding of breath and use of body to her instrumental instruction, with focus on:
- Proper alignment
- Sight-reading and theory
- Musical terminology
- Historical reference
- Musical expression
- Practise guidance
Juliet is fluent in English, Italian, Chinese (Mandarin), German and French. She is available for diction coaching for singers working on foreign-language repertoire. She is a specialist in Chinese vocal repertoire and is excited to share her knowledge of Chinese music, culture and language with all students.
Juliet teaches all genres, but specialises in classical music.
Prior to the first lesson, Juliet will make sure that she is clear on the goals and needs of the student. After a brief chat, if the student has had previous experience, she will ask to hear a piece or portion of a piece representing the level at which the student currently performs. Juliet will then introduce exercises and repertoire appropriate to the level of the student. Juliet understands that every student is unique and is keen to find the best way to communicate. She looks to create a nurturing environment, which allows her students to flourish.
Juliet has experience with students of all levels and ages. She believes that music has an important role in everyone’s life. Whether coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, or on a professional path, Juliet is interested in helping her students realise their fullest potential.
