About Lisa M.

I (Lisa) am a freelancing musician who has been teaching for the last four years. I freelance between performing on the violin, private teaching, and running music community sessions for both adults and young people. I graduated in music in 2019 from the University of Manchester and have experience teaching in a huge range of settings from schools, SEN settings, music centres, and privately, to youth clubs and community centres. I always tailor my teaching style to what the student is interested in and plan lessons so that they improve in the areas they are most interested in. It's really important to me that my students feel confident and comfortable in the lessons.

Teaching:
I have played the violin for over 15 years and am confident teaching from beginners to advanced. My lessons develop students as both a violinist and a musician, there's work on pieces, technique, theory, learning by ear and improvisation. I have successfully taken young people and adults through graded exams and ensured they feel confident and prepared for exams. I also love teaching violin as a hobby, working with people to get as much fun out of music as possible. It's important to me that the lesson is tailored to the student's interest and I'll regularly check-in to make sure you are covering the things you would like to.

I also have a Grade 8 piano qualification and am happy to teach to Grd5 standard or to anyone who wants to learn for fun. Like violin I like to cover many different genres and styles or work through exam grades if you prefer! I can also teach music theory, and will do this within instrumental lessons if the student would like to work on graded exams.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in lessons. If you are a complete beginner I'm happy to offer some guidance on buying instruments. I'm also always happy to have a phone call before we start the lessons so we can get to know each other a little and you can explain what music you would like to learn. I teach both online and in person.
