Russian mezzo-soprano, professional opera singer and a music teacher. She earned her Master of Arts (voice) at the Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, with professor Dennis O'Neil and Nuccia Focile. She also holds BA (Hons) as Actress of Musical Theatre from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, Moscow. She graduated an intensive three-year vocal course with the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre in Moscow, working with many great musicians, such as Galina Vishnevskaya, Richard Bonyenge and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

Maria shares her passion and knowledge of music with students of all ages and abilities. She is a vastly experienced tutor across singing, acting and musical theatre. For 4 years she has given private singing lessons. Maria is very patient and has a passion for working with complete or near-beginners.

Genre
Maria teaches (almost) all genres but has a deep understanding and passion for opera and classical singing repertoire

First lesson
In the first lesson with a student, Maria will work with the student to identify which sort of voice the student has (i.e. Soprano, Alto, Tenor…). She will do some exercises with the student to find out where they’re at with their singing and have a chat to see what they want to work on in their lessons. Students are welcome to bring in repertoire they’d like to work on, and/or Maria can supply exercises for the student to work on.

Beginners
Maria is very patient and has a passion for working with complete or near-beginners. She takes pride in building a great technique with her students whilst working on expression and performance in a fun and engaging way.
