About Matt D

Matt holds a BA Hons 1st Class as a graduate of Leeds College of Music and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He is fully insured and a Musician’s Union Member. Matt has been performing and playing drums for over 12 years and teaching for over 5 years. During this time he has toured and performed with many artists and has performed in venues such as the Sage Gateshead, the Metro Radio Arena, Manchester Academy, The Cluny, and at the Tour De France Grand Depart amongst many others.

- Playing beats, rhythms and grooves
- Playing as part of a band or along with your favourite bands/tracks

Teaching in Drums
Matt covers all levels and styles with a student centred approach. Matt has specialisms in hand technique including the Moeller Technique. Can teach all styles with particular experience in the genres of: Pop, Rock, Metal, Pop Punk, Funk, Motown, Blues etc.
All elements of drumming can be covered including kit set up, tuning, technique, music theory, playing in bands and with other musicians, however lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and goals.

Genre
Matt teaches all genres with specialisms in: Pop, Rock, Metal, Pop Punk, Funk, Motown, Blues.

First lesson
First lessons will usually consist of a brief chat about what experience a student has and what they would like to achieve. We will cover basic techniques and assess what to cover in future lessons.

Beginners
Beginners should have their own drum sticks, and a practice pad to begin lessons. After an initial lesson any materials or requirements can be discussed and organised between Matt and the student/parent/guardian.
