About Roseanne W
Hello! My name is Roseanne and I am a vocalist, woodwind player, bassist, composer and tutor based in Manchester. I have a first class B(Mus) Honours degree in Popular Music Performance (Vocals) from the Royal Northern College of Music and am currently a masters student of Musicology. After a youth and adolescence spent in orchestra pits and rock bands, I am now a full-time professional gigging musician, teacher and writer and have acquired a rich bank of experiences ranging from teaching individuals one-to-one, to directing small chamber ensembles, to teaching full middle-school classrooms, from toddlers to adults and beginners to advanced.
Teaching in Vocals
I can teach this up to B(Mus) level from complete beginner and anybody in between. Whether you are looking for an introduction into singing, learning to hone in on your own voice as a performer, healthy singing practice or looking to prepare for a graded music exam/GCSE or A-Level music exam or university audition, I can accommodate all scenarios.
All my lessons are structured around the student completely, all are musically accompanied, and all are fun!
Vocal lessons with me vary on the skill/desire/age of the student, but all will lessons will include:
-Healthy singing practice (Alexander technique, posture control, breathing, vocal maintenance and warming up)
-Good vocal technique (belting, riffing, tone control, melodic phrasing)
-Musical expression, performance and repertoire selection
-Scales, aural and range increasing exercises
-Dealing with performance anxiety/stage fright
Teaching in Music Theory
Music theory is essential. As a professional arranger, I understand the workings of every instrument in the orchestra and rhythm section without playing them, so regardless of your instrument, and what skill level you are, I can assist with your music theory and aural skills to coincide with your instrument practice. I can teach music theory up to grade 8 (ABRSM) level, including jazz theory.
Music Theory lessons with me vary on the skill/desire/age of the student, but all will lessons will include:
- Basic note and rhythm reading
-Harmony and key signatures
-Building chords, chord substitution and voicing
-Composition and songwriting (or writing for your instrument)
