About Samuel W

Sam is an experienced musician and tutor, having gained his BMus (hons) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has performed around the world with orchestras such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Swan and Southbank Sinfonia. He has a wealth of experience in teaching violin and viola to students at all levels and ages, and currently teaches for several councils across London. Sam offers a warm, encouraging learning environment where there is always clear, open communication and a great balance between focused pursuit of musical goals and having lots of fun!

Teaching in Violin and Viola
Sam teaches violin and viola from beginners to advanced students of all ages.

Genre
Sam teaches (almost) all genres, but specialises in classical music.

First lesson
Before the first lesson, Sam will make sure he understands the student’s needs and will provide a rough outline of how the lesson will proceed. The lesson will begin with a brief chat and will then run at a pace that works for the student. Sam always takes a starting point in the student's own wishes and needs and it’s very important that his students feel comfortable and at ease in order for the best learning to happen! Sam is a skilled tutor and is able to tailor repertoire and teaching style to best fit the individual.

Beginners
Beginners of all ages are most welcome to learn with Sam. He believes that anyone can learn music and his teaching has a proven track record of unlocking students’ potentials.
