- Analysis – listening and analysing pieces of music, following scores and identifying key features of pieces of music.
- Aural skills – being able to listen and identify musical features just through sound, differentiating instrumental sounds and musical genres.
- Composition and Songwriting – allowing students to be creative and expressive but also coherent and musical in their writing.

Genre
Charlie has worked extensively in both classical and musical theatre singing styles and is happy to work on both with singers. He would be happy to explore other genres at a student’s request.

First lesson
Charlie always listens to what a student wants to do and tries to cater to their interests and experience. A first lesson will involve open discussion about what a student wants to achieve as well as seeing what sort of music they respond best to and how they could be challenged to get better.
