About Lauren D

Lauren is a teacher who only wants what is best for her students and to do this she gives 100% of her effort to them, as if she was practicing for her own exams and performances. Lauren realises that exams are not the route everyone wants to take and she is absolutely happy that exams are not compulsory, we can learn for pure enjoyment. No matter what age and ability you are, whether you prefer exams or just playing as a hobby, the most important part is that you play for happiness and pleasure. Before Lauren joined MusicTutors, she taught privately for a number of years, both Flute and Piano and both from beginners level. She has also worked with children in primary schools. Lauren has a master’s degree in music focusing on composition, performance and musicology. She also has ABRSM grade 7 in Flute and grade 7 in Piano, she is currently beginning her journey to complete her ABRSM in Piano. She is also an experienced composer and performer. Her achievements include composing music for Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra; composing for The Sixteen vocal group; performing in masterclasses with
renowned musicians; putting on her own concert performance.

Teaching in Flute
Lauren teaches flute from beginners to advanced students from age 7/8 and up, but this does depend on the students themselves. If you are a beginning student, the most important part is to make a sound! Lauren will show you fun techniques of how to make a sound with your flute. If you have already began learning, Lauren would love to know your background, the type of music you love to play and what you would like to learn. Lauren would like to hear what music you prefer also, by performing anything you are confident with to show off your musical talent.
As well as learning repertoire, it can also be beneficial to learn how to sight read effectively, to be able to pick up any piece and play it, when you are getting to be more advanced is a gift, that you would be grateful to have learnt when you first begin you instrumental journey.

Teaching in Piano
Lauren teaches piano from beginners to advanced students from age 7/8 and up, but this does depend on the students themselves.
