About Luciana
My approach to Music Tuition is flexible to students' needs, capabilities and interests. I provide students with assistance for developing their own learning techniques. This means preparing accurate content for each student's lesson and providing/creating exercises based on current technical instrumental goals needed for playing desirable repertoire. The final aim of the lessons is to help students developing technical and expressive skills for playing/producing the music they love.
I am also committed to design and provide accurate digital material to accompany each student’s learning and self-practice (Videos, recordings, backing-tracks, pdf scores).
I can support students through their preparation for music examination boards such as ABRSM, TRINITY and LCM up to Diploma level.
I truly enjoy making music and can share and encourage this passion in my students. Whether music is for them a professional pathway or a leisure activity, I want to make sure students make the most of the lessons and of their own practice and experience the joy of music making.
The first lesson will serve as an instance to plan what would be the best lessons and individual practice plan according to each student's goals, aims, challenges and availability for practicing. Assessing the time you will need to prepare for an exam and how to do so will be based on listening to you play a piece you know on your instrument on the first lesson. Beginners are welcome and the first lesson(s) could give you preparatory exercises such as breath control exercises and advice on purchasing your first instrument or DAW software.
I have been delivering Music Tutoring on a one-to-one basis for ten years. I have instructed students in Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Composition, Music production/technology and Music Theory. Since lockdown, I also teach online. I have experience teaching music for large groups of children including Primary, Secondary, Music Schools and students with special educational needs.
After graduating in both Music and Theatre, I was trained and certified as a Music Teacher. I was awarded a Masters in Composition and Theory at the University of the Arts in Bern (Switzerland). I am now undertaking a PhD research in Music Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. My composition works include music theatre, instrumental scores and interdisciplinary performances.
