About Sam K

Sam graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University with a First Class honours BMus degree, where he studied piano and vocals. As well as founding and directing vocal ensembles covering a variety of music genres, he has taught regularly on a one-to-one basis ever since.

Sam is based in South Croydon.

Teaching of vocals
Sam teaches vocals from beginners to intermediate students of all ages. He can provide accompaniment when delivering singing lessons, meaning students enjoy more of a sense of performing as well as singing.

Vocal lessons include:
- Basic singing techniques
- Physical and vocal warm-up exercises
- Musical expression and performance
- Sight-singing and ear-training
- If desired, preparation for graded examinations

Teaching of piano/keyboard
Sam teaches piano from beginners to intermediate students of all ages.

Piano lessons include:
- Technique
- Repertoire
- Musical expression and performance
- Notation, sight-reading and theory
- If desired, preparation for graded examinations

Teaching of music theory
Sam also teaches music theory to students of all ages. He has experience teaching classroom music as well as one-to-one theory lessons. Preparation for graded examinations can again be provided or otherwise tailored to suit the needs of the student.

Genre
Sam teaches (almost) all genres but specialises in classical music.

Philosophy
Sam has always had a keen interest in the therapeutic and fluency-enhancing effects of music on individuals, especially those with any form of speech disorder. He has written on the subject and believes in the importance music has in allowing individuals to express themselves. His teaching is always structured in a way which underpins this philosophy.
